Porn Again – How Censorship is a Threat to Business

The proposed age verification system for pornography has nothing to do with business right?

We don’t think so, but how about you?

The video below from the Parliamentary Communication committee discusses this thorny issue which has huge implications for security.

Security of the Individual, the Internet, businesses on it and those of us who use it.

Could any breach of the Data collected in this draconian process not cause a huge drop in the trust that is placed in all businesses who offer services online?

A breach of trust and the possibility for blackmail and extortion could discourage users from using online services, after all, it is not like it hasn’t happened before.

Critics point out that these changes will be dangerous to online freedoms in the UK, because for the very first time the government will have the power to block websites without needing a court order – surely a first for a democracy? Industry insiders are even warning that these rules are a step towards a ‘Great Firewall of Britain’, potentially as far-reaching as the internet restrictions put in place by the Chinese. It is certainly true that the US and EU states have not gone as far as the UK government wants to. {Source}
